Abstract

In den Raum- und Planungswissenschaften werden Ansätze des Postwachstums zunehmend als Potenzial erkannt, um die Nachhaltigkeitstransformation in Städten voranzutreiben und den enormen globalen Ressourcenverbrauch zu mindern. Im Postwachstumsdiskurs herrscht Einigkeit, dass Stadtplanung zu stark am Paradigma des grünen Wachstums orientiert ist und zu wenig hinterfragt wird, ob durch Konsistenzund Effizienzstrategien das Wachstum des Gebäudebestands und der Mobilität auf ressourcenschonende Weise bewältigbar ist. Somit betrachtet der Beitrag das transformative Potenzial von Suffizienzstrategien und schafft einen konzeptionellen Rahmen, um suffizienzorientierte Ansätze in der Stadtentwicklung zu identifizieren. Die Stadt Wien dient als Fallbeispiel, um konkrete Anknüpfungspunkte am Weg zu einer suffizienzorientierten Stadtentwicklung aufzuzeigen - durch Brüche, Institutionen und Nischen, sowie an deren Schnittstellen.
