Abstract

Zusammenfassung Enterprise Resource Planning ist für viele Manager schon fast ein Reizwort. Vor gut zwei Jahrzehnten erstmals aufgekommen, versprach dieser Ansatz hohe Effizienzgewinne durch Etablierung übergreifender Prozesse sowie Abbildung der verschiedenen Unternehmenseinheiten in ein und demselben IT-System — in der Regel unter dem Schlagwort „Prozessautomatisierung“. Nachdem inzwischen zahlreiche Unternehmen ihre Erfahrungen damit gemacht haben, ist das Echo bislang wenig positiv: Umfassende ERP-Lösungen — so die verbreitete Meinung — seien nicht nur teuer und schwer zu implementieren, darüber hinaus stünde der erzielte Nutzen in keinem Verhältnis zum Aufwand. Viele Projekte mussten gar als kompletter Fehlschlag erkannt werden.
