Abstract

Within critical HRDHuman Resource Development (HRD), learning and knowingLearning and knowing should be conceived of as dynamically linked to action for social justiceSocial justice; thus forming the basis for praxis in our field. When viewed this way, we can recognize how engagement with social justiceSocial justice struggle is a form of embodied knowing that facilitates further learningLearning, while learningLearning should be an activity of fierce resistance to oppression. The purpose of this chapter is to address how various forms of learning and knowingLearning and knowing interact with social justiceSocial justice action. Throughout this chapter, we will explore the importance of developing our capacity to feel and loveLove, building empathyEmpathy, bearing witness, affirming the need for change, and taking critically engaged action as crucial components of learning and knowingLearning and knowing in critical HRDHuman Resource Development (HRD).
