Abstract

Energy supply is a crucial factor for the industrial development in a country. To deal with its dependency on energy import, China has developed long-term energy policies such as energy savings, promotion of domestic energy production, diversification of energy sources (including coal, oil, gas, coalbed methane, nuclear power and renewable energies such as hydroelectric power), technical innovation in energy industry, promotion of resource-saving and environment-friendly technologies and promotion and diversification of international cooperations. China’s energy strategy provides a wide range of business opportunities for private sectors, for example, for technical innovations in the energy sector. The emphasis on energy security in the country’s foreign policy enhances the manufacturers’ confidence in the long-term energy availability at domestic production locations.
