Abstract

The final chapter discusses the future of revenue management in the lodging industry. Redefining priorities in a post COVID-19 world takes center stage with a focus on addressing outdated technology, digital transformation, new revenue generation opportunities for revenue management, and the future of the hotel CRS, PMS, GDS and OTA. Transition to a sense and respond environment is important for adapting revenue management business processes to work in a COVID-19 and post COVID-19 world using a sales and operations planning framework when historical demand patterns do not represent the future. The chapter concludes with a discussion on the latest technologies such as Web3 and blockchain, Metaverse, and non-fungible tokens that will have an impact on the lodging industry.
