Abstract

Diagnosing and designing the new control organization are followed by implementation. We distinguish incremental change, where only individual parts of the control organization are improved, from reorganization, where not only the neurology but also the anatomy is changed. Only the latter is problematic because it unsettles employees, slows productivity, and not infrequently fails due to serious implementation errors. It is, therefore, crucial to implement clearly and swiftly. The right people must be involved at the right points in the process. This chapter, therefore, integrates the dimensions of culture and specific persons into the diagnostic process. Discussing the four implementation phases, it considers who should be involved, for what purpose and how, and how to communicate. Finally, it looks at the four key success factors particularly heeded by strong implementers.
