Between Headquarters and Subsidiaries: The RHQ Solution

In: Multinational Corporate Evolution and Subsidiary Development

Abstract

The multinational corporation (MNC) as a phenomenon of recent times differs from simpler organisations by ‘the combined consequences of multidimensionality and heterogeneity’ (Doz and Prahalad, 1991). Multidimensionality in this context is the result of multiple geographical markets, multiple product lines and multifunctional activities. Heterogeneity comes from the different economic and political characteristics that make an impact on the various countries, businesses and tasks in varied ways.
