Trade in Eco-Labelled Products: Developing-Country Participation and the Need for Increased Transparency

In: Eco-Labelling and International Trade

Author

Listed:
  • Simonetta Zarrilli

Abstract

The effects of eco-labelling on developing-country exports so far have been modest, especially because of the limited number of products included in the schemes and because most of the items considered for labelling are not of particular export interest to them. However, developing countries are becoming more exposed to the effects of eco-labelling since some of the new product categories which are being selected for inclusion in the eco-labelling programmes are of great export interest to them.
