Abstract

We selected two outstanding companies to feature in our case studies for the high engagement culture. Two companies that are on either side of the Atlantic from each other, in very different businesses. One in manufacturing and one in food retailing. One in Germany and the other in the United States. Yet they are joined by the fact that they treat their workers with a respect and fairness that is a beacon for those who doubt that what we have talked about up to this point is more than idealistic, or for those who think that these are great ideas but are impractical and hard to actualize. These companies do this year after year and their performance underscores that this is no touchy-feely exercise. Indeed they are both world class and leaders in their industry, and as we write, are enjoying record stock prices and/or financial results.
