HR Structures: Are They Working?

Abstract

In this chapter we examine the nature of HR structures and delivery models. Throughout the book it is argued that HR should start with the organization’s business model and reverse engineer what this means for the most appropriate structure, rather than start with structure and shoe-horn it into business strategy. However, in order to set the case up for such an argument, paradoxically, we have to start with a discussion of the challenges surrounding structure before moving on to business strategy and business models in Chapter 4.
