Abstract

Customers’ unique experiences today happen through designing new digital services, such as augmented reality and artificial intelligence, which leverage emerging capacities in digital technologies. From a service-dominant logic perspective, technology can be conceptualized as an operant resource capable of acting on other resources to create value. IKEA Kreativ is an example of a new AR and AI technology offering a digital service experience for furniture and interior retailing. This chapter contributes to understanding IKEA Kreativ as a new digital service that represents a critical resource for value co-creation, service innovation, and systems (re)formation in furniture and interior retail at IKEA. IKEA Kreativ is a technology that changes the retail service (eco)systems in furniture and interior, its practices, and institutions. In this context, innovation occurs not only through the activities of single actors but also through the interaction among multiple actors and the recombination of practices and resources in the service ecosystem.
