UK IPO resources for IP education

Abstract

The Intellectual Property Office (IPO) is the official UK government body responsible for IP rights (IPRs) including patents, designs, trade marks and copyright. The IPO operates and maintains a clear and accessible IP system in the UK. The IP system encourages innovation and helps the economy and society to benefit from knowledge and ideas by offering protection for creative and inventive work. In addition to granting IPRs in the UK, the IPO is responsible for developing IP policy, educating businesses and consumers about IPRs and responsibilities, and supporting IP enforcement. Within this chapter we will refer to IP and associated rights as IP concepts and IP.
