Die gesamtwirtschaftliche Bedeutung der österreichischen Versicherungswirtschaft

Abstract

Versicherungen sind ein einfaches und effizientes Instrument zum Ausgleich finanzieller Schäden bei Eintritt vorab definierter Ereignisse. Die direkte Wirkung von Versicherungen auf den Nutzen der Versicherten besteht in der Vermeidung hoher finanzieller Belastungen durch den Schadenausgleich innerhalb der Versichertengemeinschaft. Damit werden starke Schwankungen im Konsumniveau der privaten Haushalte bzw. in der Produktionskapazität von Unternehmen verhindert. Aus einer gesamtwirtschaftlichen Sicht ermöglichen Versicherungsverträge ein größeres Maß an Arbeitsteilung und wirken damit produktivitätssteigernd. Weitere indirekte Effekte von Versicherungen entstehen durch Anreize für ein effizientes Risikomanagement und die damit verbundenen Maßnahmen zur Schadenvermeidung und zur Verringerung der potentiellen Schadensumme. Die Nachfrage an privaten Versicherungen ist stark mit staatlichen Absicherungssystemen verbunden. Im internationalen Vergleich wird das Angebot der Schaden-Unfallversicherungen in Österreich umfangreich genutzt, während die Lebensversicherung unterdurchschnittlich stark nachgefragt wird.
