Abstract

En la segunda mitad del siglo XX, Costa Rica experimentó un rápido crecimiento económico y social combinado con un sostenido desarrollo democrático y una base de equidad social. Sin embargo, en los últimos años la capacidad de los gobiernos costarricenses para avanzar en la agenda de reformas y garantizar una acción estatal inclusiva se ha visto mellada por la dificultad del sistema político para lograr acuerdos y por el dispar incremento de las demandas al Estado y los recursos para hacerlas efectivas. Con un enfoque multidisciplinario, Democracia estable ¿alcanza? analiza en profundidad este proceso y sugiere políticas que podrían facilitar la gobernabilidad del país.
