Abstract

Rice is a major cereal crop in Nepal, and it is associated with Nepalese culture, religion, and food habits. It has been used in various forms in ceremonies and festivals since ancient times. The Tharu community’s main food products made from rice flour are Dhikri, Bagiya, and Bhakka. This paper briefly introduces and prepares Dhikri, Bagiya, and Bhakka, traditional Nepalese foods of the Tharu community. According to the research, traditional food is often associated with emotional and cultural levels among the older generations in the country. Today, however, this trend seems to decline due to Western cultural influence and modernization. This paper aims to protect and promote traditional foods because they are rooted in our cultural aspects, therefore preserving and promoting them.
