Deutschlands Innovationsfaktoren im internationalen Vergleich

Abstract

Produziert eine Volkswirtschaft unter Nutzung modernster Produktionsmöglichkeiten bereits nahe an der technologischen Grenze, dann entscheiden radikale Innovationen in Hoch- und Spitzentechnologien über das Wirtschaftswachstum. Eine international vergleichende Analyse von 22 OECD-Staaten zeigt, dass für Länder am technologischen Rand die gegenwärtigen Innovationsbedingungen signifikante Auswirkungen auf die aktuelle Wachstumsperformance haben. Dabei stehen vor allem die Ausstattung mit Humanressourcen, die Finanzierungsmöglichkeiten sowie die institutionelle Ausgestaltung der Produktmärkte und des Arbeitsmarkts im Vordergrund. Deutschland gelang es im vergangenen Jahrzehnt nicht so gut wie anderen Ländern, durch radikale Innovationen zusätzliche Produktion anzuregen. Die Schwäche Deutschlands bei radikalen Innovationen ist vor allem auf einen Mangel an hoch qualifizierten Nachwuchskräften und auf zu stark regulierte Märkte zurückzuführen.
