Institutional Trust And Opinions Of Corruption

Abstract

SUMMARY The aim of this study was to examine individual factors that influence attitudes towards corruption. The study used data from an original opinion survey conducted in the Estonian public sector. The results demonstrate that trust in institutions, age and nationality are the most important individual factors to influence public officials' awareness of corruption and the extent to which they are ready to condemn corrupt and unethical behaviour.
