Why should we understand the future and how can we do it?

Abstract

This is a book review of Patterns of the Future: Understanding the Next Wave of Global Change by Markku Wilenius (London, UK: World Scientific, 239 p, 2017). The book is aimed at business leaders, decision‐makers, and the general public who are interested in better understanding the forces that are shaping the future. In the review, we discuss especially the challenge of identifying patterns of future dynamics.
