Herausforderungen des alpinen Wintertourismus in Österreich

Abstract

Der alpine Wintertourismus ist einer der Eckpfeiler der österreichischen Tourismuswirtschaft. Angebot und Nachfrage nach Skiurlaub haben sich über Jahrzehnte hinweg positiv entwickelt, sodass Österreich als eines der wenigen Länder in Europa über zwei beinahe gleichwertige Saisonen verfügt. Doch der Tourismus in alpinen Regionen steht vor großen Herausforderungen. Werden sie nicht bewältigt, so ist dies mit negativen Effekten auf volkswirtschaftlicher, noch mehr aber auf regionalwirtschaftlicher Ebene verbunden: Vor allem der Klimawandel, aber auch demografische Veränderungen und höhere Kosten, die mit steigenden Preisen einhergehen, erzwingen eine Anpassung des Angebotes. In der Folge ist auch eine Verschiebung der Nachfrage in Richtung des Sommers und der Nebensaisonen zu erwarten. Klimaschutzbemühungen, in deren Zentrum eine klimafreundliche An- und Abreise der Gäste steht, müssen verstärkt werden.
