COVID-19-Pandemie, Materialengpässe und Preissteigerungen prägen die Konjunktur. Die österreichische Wirtschaft im Jahr 2021

Abstract

Die COVID-19-Pandemie und ihre Folgen prägten auch 2021 die Entwicklung der Weltwirtschaft. Regional verlief die Konjunktur heterogen, wenngleich die rasche Erholung der Industrieproduktion vielerorts Angebotsengpässe und starke Preissteigerungen zur Folge hatte. Die heimische Wirtschaft expandierte wieder, wobei die Konjunktur unterjährig erneut stark schwankte und maßgeblich von den gesundheitspolitischen COVID-19-Maßnahmen geprägt war. Mit der wirtschaftlichen Erholung stieg auch die durchschnittlich geleistete Arbeitszeit, was sich positiv auf die Pro-Kopf-Einkommen auswirkte. Dies steigerte zusammen mit dem verbesserten Konsumentenvertrauen und Sparrücklagen aus dem Vorjahr die Ausgabenbereitschaft der privaten Haushalte. Steigende Rohstoffpreise wirkten inflationstreibend, wodurch der Verbraucherpreisindex vor allem zu Jahresende 2021 deutlich anstieg.
