Abstract

Das internationale Ansehen des WIFO wurde bereits in den frühen Jahren durch Persönlichkeiten wie Ludwig von Mises, Friedrich A. von Hayek und Oskar Morgenstern begründet. Neben dem Jubiläum des 85-jährigen Bestandes begeht das WIFO heuer auch den 100. Geburtstag eines seiner verdienstvollsten WIFO-Mitarbeiter mit großer internationaler Reputation, der dieses Ansehen entscheidend geprägt hat: Josef Steindl. Neben seiner Tätigkeit als empirischer Wirtschaftsforscher lieferte er vielbeachtete Beiträge zur Wirtschaftstheorie.
