Unternehmenswachstum im internationalen Vergleich

Abstract

Im Zeitraum 2002/2005 wuchsen die Unternehmen in Österreich weniger dynamisch als in 11 Vergleichsländern. In Österreich ist der Anteil der schnell wachsenden Unternehmen unterdurchschnittlich, aber auch der Anteil der schnell schrumpfenden Unternehmen. Etwa 50% der Unternehmen weisen Veränderungsraten der Beschäftigtenzahl im Intervall von –5% bis +5% auf, und nur die Niederlande und Norwegen verzeichneten 2002/2005 einen ähnlich kleinen Anteil schnell wachsender Unternehmen wie Österreich. Wie weitergehende empirische Analysen auf der Branchenebene zeigen, sind neben Brancheneffekten, der Branchenentwicklung und dem Anteil der schnell schrumpfenden Unternehmen auch fixe Ländereffekte wichtige Erklärungsfaktoren des Anteils schnell wachsender Unternehmen. Letzteres wirft Fragen nach den institutionellen und wirtschaftspolitischen Determinanten der Verteilung der Unternehmenswachstumsraten auf.
