Nachhaltige Mobilität und Klimaökonomie

Abstract

Der österreichische Verkehrssektor gehört zu den größten Einzelquellen an klimawirksamen Treibhausgasen, insbesondere an Kohlendioxid (CO2), und weist gegenüber dem Referenzjahr 1990 die größte Wachstumsdynamik auf. Klimapolitische Instrumente wie der Emissionshandel sowie die flexiblen Mechanismen des Kyoto-Protokolls fanden bislang nicht Eingang in die Verkehrspolitik. Die traditionellen fiskalischen Instrumente weisen jedoch kaum klima- und energiepolitische Anreize für emissionsarme Verkehrsformen und -technologien auf. Die Senkung der verkehrsbedingten Emissionen bedarf einer kohärenten klimaökonomisch motivierten Verkehrspolitik, die sich eine nachhaltige Mobilität zum Ziel setzt.
