Abstract

Subject and purpose of work: The aim of this paper is to identify the professional expectations of students of Economics at the State School of Higher Education in Biała Podlaska. The paper presents also respondents’ opinions on particularly desirable values of potential employers. Materials and methods: The research was carried out using the CAWI method in January 2021. It covered 108 students of Economics at bachelor’s degree and master’s degree studies. Results: The values that most respondents expect from their future employers include attractive remuneration, the stability of employment, a promotion prospect and the friendly workplace atmosphere. The least significant values include work in a big city, work in a convenient location and the opportunity to work in an international environment. Students of older years would find it easier to cope with work at a high pace and under the pressure of time. The need to perform imitative work and focus only on the narrow scope of duties in their work would not be a serious problem for participants of the research. Conclusions: Students of Economics at the State School of Higher Education in Biała Podlaska will engage in their work and perform it to the best of their abilities if they are adequately remunerated and given the possibility of further professional development and the atmosphere and conditions of work are good and comfortable.
