Abstract

A pesar de las ventajas que ofrece el metro pesado, la crítica fundamental de este sistema de ferrocarril se basa en los elevados costos financieros de construcción en la zona urbana y en la molestia causadas al tráfico urbano en la etapa de construcción. La finalidad de esta investigación es la de realizar una primera tentativa de cuantificación y comparación de los costos de inversión y de operación de los metros de cinco ciudades de países en desarrollo. Además, se reúnen ciertos elementos que caracterizan a los servicios ofrecidos por dichos metros.
