Antigüedad en el empleo y los salarios en Chile

Abstract

Este artículo tiene por objeto estudiar los efectos de la antigüedad en el empleo sobre el nivel de salarios. Para esto se estimaron ecuaciones de ingresos corregidos por sesgos de selección. La principal conclusiones es que la antigüedad en el empleo incrementa el nivel de salarios y que la rotación los disminuye a través de una caída del stock de capital humano específico. Una implicancia de política económica del análisis realizado es que no sería necesario contar con regulaciones que limiten la rotación , ya que existe un incentivo natural a la permanencia en el empleo, tanto por el lado del empleado como del empleador. Por el contrario, se deriva que es necesario contar con un mercado laboral altamente flexible de forma tal que tenga la máxima capacidad de absorción de mano de obra, en especial, mano de obra no calificada, que es la que se vería más fuertemente afectada con políticas exógenas que restrinjan la rotación.
