La prolifération des communautés économiques régionales constitue-t-elle une barrière aux échanges pour les pays d’Afrique Centrale ?

Abstract

Cet article examine l’impact de la prolifération des Communautés économiques régionales sur le commerce interne de l’Afrique Centrale ainsi que sur les effets de création et de détournement de commerce de la Communauté Économique des États de l’Afrique Centrale (CEEAC). La méthodologie utilisée s’appuie sur le modèle de gravité et les tech-niques récentes d’estimations en panel. Nos résultats montrent que la prolifération des Communautés économiques régionales réduit les échanges commerciaux entre les pays de l’Afrique Centrale. En outre, ils révèlent qu’il n’existe aucune création de commerce dans la CEEAC suite à la multiplication des accords d’intégration. La prolifération semble plutôt renforcer le détournement de commerce dans la CEEAC.
