Abstract

Korea’s population is aging and the quality of life (QOL) of older adults has become a significant social challenge. Research on the QOL of older adults has focused on health, social support, and objective institutional factors, without identifying the influence of subjective factors related to policy. This study includes policy expectations for national pension, long-term care insurance for older adults, and basic pension, in addition to health factors, such as cognitive function, depression, and activities of daily living (ADL), and social support from family members and friends. The results based on the 7th Korean Longitudinal Study of Aging (KLoSA) confirmed the significant relevance of relationships with friends (+) as social support along with cognitive function (+) and depression (-). Policy expectations for the national pension and long-term care insurance also had a positive relation with the QOL of older adults. These results have implications for future research and policies.
