Negotiating Ethics in China

Abstract

This study extends our understanding of ethical decision-making in China by presenting an exploratory cross-cultural comparison of Australian and Chinese negotiators' views about laws and corporate codes of ethics in China. From the interpretation of interviews, a research agenda is proposed. Managerial implications of the findings suggest that neither Australian nor Chinese negotiators are concerned about Chinese laws and that there are cultural differences in how negotiators view codes of ethics.
