Abstract

Zusammenfassung Anfang Juni 2018 hat die Bundesregierung eine Rentenkommission eingesetzt — mit dem Auftrag, einen „neuen, verlässlichen Generationenvertrag“ zu schaffen. Das von Kritikern als überholt angesehene Umlageverfahren der gesetzlichen Rentenversicherung belastet die jüngere Generation weniger als das „reformierte“ Riester-Rentensystem. Wenn man zudem eine — wenn auch nur kleine — Steigerung der Arbeitsproduktivität annimmt, wird die arbeitende Generation in 20 Jahren auch bei einer deutlichen Steigerung des Beitrags zur gesetzlichen Rentenversicherung ein höheres verfügbares Einkommen erzielen. Eine Rückkehr zum Stand vor der Riester-Reform bietet sich als Problemlösung an.
