Abstract

In this article the author examines the phenomenon of the spread and the different approaches to the typology of global value chains, as well as the economic benefits from participating in them. Currently, in the areas of high economic activity scientific and expert community regards the global value chain as one of the tools to increase the degree of economic integration of the regional economies. On the basis of expert opinion survey the prospects of Russian-Belarusian integration were summarized, and the author concluded that at the current stage of integration the most effective way to participate in global value chains would be embedding in them small and medium enterprises of the two countries. The most promising strategy to increase participation in the global value chain would be a method of “lifting up the chain” shown by some countries in Southeast Asia. The author proposed a number of practical actions in the area of institutional organization and industry orientation of deepening the Russian-Belarusian integration through participation in global value chains. Particular attention should be paid to the development of neoindustrialization process that is able to fundamentally change the current architecture of the global division of labor.
