Internationalisation de la recherche et développement : quelles stratégies des constructeurs automobiles dans l’espace est-européen et méditerranéen ?

Abstract

Cet article se propose d’analyser les stratégies de redéploiement des activités de recherche et développement (R&D) des constructeurs automobiles dans l’espace est-européen et méditerranéen. Il est le fruit d’une collaboration pluridisciplinaire entre économiste, géographe et sociologue. Ce travail se fonde sur une étude cartographique pour mettre en évidence une diversité de stratégies de R&D des constructeurs automobiles dans cet espace. Elle est complétée par une analyse qualitative de la nature et de l’évolution des activités internationalisées. L’analyse révèle que la R&D reste une activité souvent centralisée qui peut néanmoins être accompagnée d’une décentralisation des phases aval de R&D, essentiellement pour répondre aux besoins des marchés et pour des considérations de coût dans cette zone géographique. Au-delà, on peut observer l’émergence d’unités de R&D à vocation mondiale.
