Discriminación En Consejos De Administración: Análisis E Implicaciones Económicas

Abstract

La diversidad de género en los consejos de administración se ha convertido en un tema relevante en el ámbito del gobierno corporativo. Según este estudio, sólo el 6,61% de los consejeros de las 1.085 empresas españolas más grandes son mujeres. Resulta crucial identificar las causas y posibles tipos de discriminación detrás de esta baja representación, ya que tendrán diferentes implicaciones económicas. Los resultados de los modelos estimados apuntan algunos indicios de discriminación. La proporción de mujeres es mayor cuando hay más asientos dominicales disponibles. Existen empresas exclusivistas en las que prevalece la homogeneidad dentro del consejo. Finalmente, habría sociedades que estarían infravalorando sistemáticamente las capacidades de las mujeres, situación que tiende a desaparecer si las empresas ya cuentan con consejeras.
