Abstract

[eng] This paper first looks at those rules in the W.T.O. agreements which are relevant to foreign direct investments and highlights the importance of the Agreements on trade in services and on intellectual property in this perspective. The discussion then focuses on the TRIMs Agreement's impact on F.D.I. The difficulties associated with an assessment of this impact are highlighted. The paper ends with a presentation of the main arguments in the debate about the need for a multilateral regulation of F.D.I.
