L'objectif de ce texte est de tracer les grandes lignes de ce que pourrait être un programme d'économie institutionnaliste, en prenant appui sur les contributions de Luc Boltanski, Philippe Mongin et Michael Piore. L'accent est mis sur la nécessité de développer les liens entre éthique et économie, à rencontre d'une théorie qui se voudrait étroitement positiviste. La branche normative de la théorie économique s'est repliée, dans la seconde économie du bien-être, sur le critère de Pareto, qui est très insuffisant du point de vue de la justice. Il faut donc développer une conception plus exigeante de la justice. De plus, il est nécesssaire de prendre en compte le fait que les agents mobilisent dans leurs transactions des conceptions de ce qui est équitable ou non, particulièrement mais pas exclusivement sur le marché du travail. Comme conséquence de ces orientations, il faut analyser la pluralité des valeurs et principes de justice qui gouvernent les transactions et fondent les comportements. Drawing upon the papers of Luc Boltanski, Philippe Mongin and Michael Piore, this text presents the basic elements of a new institutionalist economies. Its main thrust is to work out the relationship between the economy and Systems of moral judgment. As succh, it would serve as a counterweight to conventional economie theory, whose ambition is to create a wholly positive theory of economy behavior and whose normative content is confined to the new welfare economics, build around the concept of Pareto optimality. This approach fails to recognize that the economie agents themselves use frameworks of moral judgment to organize their transactions, especially, but not on/y, in the labor market. Indeed, because the agents act in this way, a recognition and analysis of moral values and principles of justice and their role in governing transactions is critical to a positive theory of economic behavior itself.
