Abstract

[eng] The current development of financial systems and geographical trends in banking: a comparative analysis of the advantages by country and by sector. . The aim of this article is to put forward an interpretation of recent tendancies in the geopraphical distribution of banking establishments set up abroad. There is no doubt that the industrialised countries predominate in the international pattern. However, if only on account of the varying forms taken by foreign banking investment, three new developments are apparent : a growing interdependance of the industrialised countries' banking Systems, the newly acquired multi-national status of middle and far eastern banks and the proliferation of financial centres. These three tendancies merge into a single trend : the evolving comparative advantages by country and by banking sector.
