Abstract

[eng] The presentation of particular stylized facts on technical change - as involving two modes of learning (from diversity and from standardization) - introduces an original analysis of the problems raised by the tension between diversity and standardization. Both economic values of diversity and standardization cannot be considered as invariable dimensions. They depend upon the evolution of the technology. That implies the needs for flexible policies, capable to adjust the modes of coordination (that support respectively creativity and the generation of variety on the one hand, selection and standardization on the other hand) to the logic of the technological life cycle.
