Abstract

[eng] According to the 1975 census, 9 million people were no longer living in the same category of city or town as in 1968. How did these migrations come about? They proved to be primarily a function of different age groups. While young people from 20 to 29 are moving to large cities, primarily in search of work, adults from 30 to 39 and especially the elderly are moving to smaller urban areas and even to rural regions. This naturally influences the age pyramid within different categories of cities and towns.
