Abstract

John W. Budd asks how the theme of labour relations can be focused on more intensively in a time of dynamic change in the working world. He includes the general aims of gainful employment – economic viability, fairness and participation – as well as the basic model of labour relations, which play a central role in the prevailing points of view. The argumentation has considerable significance for scientific and labour policies as it shows that the dynamism of the working world should not alter the view of the central normative and analytical foundations. Limitations are met when an attempt is made to suitably record the simultaneity and inconsistencies of current developments: the reports take up the complex developmental courses in the working world and from them precisely state the possibilities for a pluralistic analysis perspective in labour research.
