Hochschulmanagement - Auf dem Weg zu einer neuen Profession?

Abstract

Hochschulen durchlaufen gegenwärtig einen grundlegenden Transformationsprozess hin zu strategiefähigen Akteuren mit entsprechend erweiterten Handlungskapazitäten. Dies beinhaltet auch die Etablierung neuer Organisationsbereiche und Stellen im "administrativen Hochschulmanagement", die oftmals zwischen Wissenschaft und Verwaltung angesiedelt sind. Basierend auf Ergebnissen eines Forschungsprojektes am Deutschen Forschungsinstitut für Öffentliche Verwaltung (FÖV) in Speyer ermöglicht der Beitrag Einblicke zum Werdegang, Tätigkeitsprofil und Selbstverständnis der im "administrativen Hochschulmanagement" arbeitenden Mitarbeiterinnen und Mitarbeiter. Es zeigt sich, dass die in diesem Bereich Tätigen heterogene Studienhintergründe, eine starke Affinität zum Wissenschaftsbereich und eine hohe Identifikation mit der Hochschulorganisation aufweisen. Gegenwärtig gibt es jedoch nur wenig Anzeichen für die Herausbildung eines einheitlichen Berufsbildes oder einer "neuen Profession administrativer Hochschulmanager/Hochschulmanagerin".
