Abstract

This article deals with the internationalisation process that is also characterising the Italian industry. In particular, with reference to the empirical and theoretical literature on this issue, the paper focuses on the internationalisation of production processes. The main actor of this phenomenon is the firm, which through its internationalisation strategies also favours the structural change and the strategic consolidation of the Italian industry as a whole. In this framework, the analysis concentrates on the role that (foreign and industrial) policies could/ should have in order to support such internationalisation processes.
