Abstract

A magyar bankrendszerben meghatározó szerepet töltenek be a külföldi tulajdonban lévő, zömmel külföldi bankok által irányított hitelintézetek. A külföldi bankok egy része zöldmezős beruházással, más része a privatizáció keretében vásárlással szerezte tulajdonát. A szerző a bankok különböző csoportjainak összehasonlításával megvizsgálja, hogy a külföldi tulajdonosok befektetési, piaci és irányítási stratégiái, illetve a piacra lépés időpontja és módja miként befolyásolták a magyarországi érdekeltségeik teljesítményét. A sikeresség okai között kiemeli a korai piacra lépést, a széles körű piaci aktivitást, a rossz örökségek hiányát és a hazai menedzsment alkalmazását. A tanulmány második felében a szerző a külföldi bankok belépésének hatásait próbálja felmérni. A kedvező hatások három körét találja meghatározónak: a bankpiac monopolisztikus jellegének oldását és a verseny erősödését, a bankszektor minőségének javulását, valamint az ország tőkevonzó képességére gyakorolt pozitív hatást.
