A növekedésen túl - egy új irányzat hozzájárulása a fenntarthatósági vitához
[Beyond growth - the contribution of a new direction to the debate on sustainability]

Abstract

A gazdasági növekedés fenntarthatóságának kérdése már jó ideje foglalkoztatja a közgazdászokat - leginkább a környezet-gazdaságtan és az ökológiai közgazdaságtan képviselőit. Tanulmányunkban egy olyan új, nemnövekedésnek* (degrowth) nevezett irányzatot mutatunk be, amely szerint a gazdasági növekedés egyrészt környezeti oldalról hosszú távon nem fenntartható, másrészt pedig társadalmi oldalról nem is feltétlenül kívánatos. Így korunk környezeti, társadalmi és gazdasági problémáira nem a gazdasági növekedés fokozása a megoldás, hanem egy új, ténylegesen ökológiailag fenntartható és igazságosabb társadalmi-gazdasági berendezkedés, amely nem a gazdaság méretének folyamatos növekedésére épül. Az irányzat közgazdaságtani előzményeinek és gondolatkörének vázolása után megpróbáljuk elhelyezni e megközelítést napjaink fenntarthatósággal foglalkozó gondolati paradigmái között. Következtetésünk, hogy a nemnövekedés koncepciója még nem kiforrott, mondandóját számtalan bizonytalanság és megválaszolatlan kérdések sokasága övezi. Leginkább talán egy olyan újszerű megközelítésnek tekinthető, amely strukturált módon rávilágíthat számos olyan vitás kérdésre, amelyeket a hagyományos fenntarthatósági gondolkodás nem képes érdemben megválaszolni.
