Abstract

This article examines the current EU legal framework on the circular economy, aiming to highlight the strategic objectives set by the latest regulations, but also how Member States have succeeded to achieve these goals (based on the most recently published statistics in the field). Part of our analysis will also be dedicated to the impact of the COVID-19 crisis by highlighting the risks created for the development of the circular economy objectives at EU level. The research methodology includes a qualitative analysis based on the literature in the field, as well as on analysis of the current challenges for circular economy goals.
