Managing creativity: theoretical approaches to employees' creativity development and regulation

Abstract

Creativity management represents a new discipline. Despite accumulating significant practical experience on creativity management, its theory and methodology are still poorly developed. This paper discusses the problems of creativity development, control, regulation and optimisation. It suggests approaches to develop and use employees' creativity more effectively. The author introduces and defines the term 'innovativity' as a complex index, characterising a firm's capability to activate employees' creativity and transform it into innovations. The paper suggests a theoretical model that links the performance of employees with their creativity and the innovativity of a firm.
