Abstract

In this study, the authors designed a five-stage model to support creativity in contexts of the design of artefacts using ICTs in educational settings. The model also includes a rubric that parallels the five stages. The goal in this study was to trial and test the model. Participants were pre-service teachers enrolled in a course on graphic design in a Bachelor of Computer Education program and divided into a control (n = 30) and an experimental section (n = 30). Three evaluators applied the rubric to judge the pre-service teachers' engagement in the stages of creativity. Application of the Torrance test of creativity and of the rubric showed significantly higher levels of engagement in creativity for the experimental section.
