Abstract

Effective study habits and good student-teacher relationships improve academic performance. However, universities stop short of fostering effective study habits with their meagre effort in providing online or printed guidebooks of study skills. Some lecturers also attempted to improve their relationships with students to no avail. We post lecture recordings online. We offer to remind students by e-mail if they want to form the new habit of reviewing taught materials within 24 hours of the lecture. After the easy implementation of lecture recordings and study reminders, we observed an improvement of study habits in one-third of the participating students in just three weeks. We have also cultivated by far the best student-teacher relationship in a course.
