Hierarchization Of Counties By Rural Labour Resources

Abstract

In the rural development policy, the labour resources are a paramount factor for sustainable rural development. The many challenges of rural areas, in terms of social component, require a qualitative analysis of labour resources in order to determine the disparities between Romania’s counties as accurately as possible. Knowing the territorial disparities, the counties hierarchy could help design optimal strategies for their development and eventually balancing strategies to narrow the gaps between them. This paper is an analysis of human resources in rural areas, of the influence of various factors on the employment of labour resources and of regional differences (across counties), of economic and social nature, which are sometimes severe. The paper also highlights the ranking of counties using statistical methods of territorial hierarchization (in terms of labour resources in rural areas, employment of labour resources and rural employment). For a most relevant and accurate hierarchy, the author used several specific and meaningful indicators of labour resources, using a multi-criteria analysis.
