La presión social en la toma de decisiones: la ventaja del equipo local en el fútbol mexicano/Social pressure in decision making: Home advantage in Mexican football

Abstract

Una de las explicaciones de la ventaja de los equipos locales en el fútbol es la presión social que el público ejerce sobre jugadores y árbitros. En este contexto, el objetivo de este trabajo es estudiar los determinantes de este hecho estilizado en el fútbol mexicano. Los resultados muestran que el apoyo del público no afecta la ventaja de jugar en casa. Los árbitros sí responden a la presión social mostrando un mayor número de tarjetas amarillas, pero para ambos equipos, lo que elimina cualquier sesgo a favor del equipo local. Los resultados anteriores son contrarios a lo encontrado para Europa.
