La productividad total de factores en la industria eléctrica y electrónica. El caso de la industria maquiladora en México

Abstract

A nonparametric estimation of Total Factor Productivity in the electrical and electronic industry is made for the assembly plant industry (1990-2004), using a Cobb-Douglas production function and Solow’s equation for economic growth. The estimation of Hicks’ neutral technical change yields a productivity growth rate based on the parameters of the 1994 production function. The results confirm a low growth of total productivity, which rises during the period 2001-2003 due to the closing of firms, and that is based on the accumulation of capital.
